We are so excited to complete our new “Lenny & Eva” display here at Wild Souls!!! Our Lenny & Eva has been good to us, so we decided to make it one of the main focuses of our store and put it right in the main window. I salvaged some old pallets and used galvanized tin to build it so our customers would have a nice big surface to spread out and create their pieces on.
Two mannequins face outward adorned with necklaces and the crates hold all of our “Easel Back Signage”.
Who’s ready for a vacation? Well, with this dress from Wild Souls you’re one step closer – the stretchy polyester/spandex blend is cool, comfortable, and virtually impossible to wrinkle when it’s getting tossed around your suitcase in an overhead bin. So now you can fly with ease knowing that you won’t have to worry about hotel iron rust on your new dress. Silhouette is shift style with slight bell sleeves so it’s incredibly flattering and suitable for tiki drinks by the pool or a fine dinner in the city.
My first bicycle had training wheels, but it was black with neon splatter paint and a basket, and I loved it. A few months later I was visiting my Grandmother out-of-town when she told me that her neighbor’s grandson was visiting next door, so we went over with some sort of baked goods and he and I played with his race track for most of the afternoon. He asked me if I wanted to ride bikes the next day to which I replied with the excuse hat I couldn’t because I didn’t have a bike. My grandmother stepped in and said that I could use my older male cousin’s bike that was in her garage. Personally, I saw a few holes in her plan, one of those being that I hadn’t mastered the art of riding without training wheels, but she seemed confident so I skeptically agreed…
I then spent the rest of the evening practicing on a boy’s bike that was about 3 sizes too big for me with no brakes. When I finally mastered the art of staying on the bike, the problem of having no way to stop it quickly arose. Because it was so big I couldn’t drop my foot down without having to remove my other foot from the pedal which wouldn’t be a problem if not for the too high “boy bar” that required some momentum to swing my leg over. My solution: the street was lined with a curb so if I slowly ran into it I could fall off with just enough dignity to not make me want to be run over by aforementioned oversized bicycle.
From what I remember, the day with the grandson next door went fine, but what I really remember is feeling like I could maneuver anything from a big wheel to a Harley after my experience with that mammoth of a bicycle. When I got home it was clear that I was ready to take off the training wheels and thus was the official beginning of a childhood filled with driving through puddles after a long summer rain, trips down the dirt road to wade in the creek, and exploring every square inch of Jekyll Island, GA with my friends.
Almost every child has the memory of their first bicycle, or if not their first, at least their favorite 😉 Whether it was under the tree, in the back of a truck, or in Grandma’s garage – we all remember the first time we saw it and what it meant… FREEDOM! Here at Wild Souls, we hope our Outfit of the Day will bring you back to your first bicycle and capture the spirit of freedom you felt when you used to ride open wide with your hair blowing behind you.
Hey Guys! It’s Memorial Day – an occasion to honor the memory of the men and women who served our country in the armed forces. Most of us do so by taking time off work and engaging in activities that make us feel happy and proud to live in the land of the free and home of the brave. Activities that usually take place on or near a body of water. For me this typically includes swimming, sunbathing, and eating blueberry cobbler with homemade ice cream 😉 To that end, I believe our Outfit of the Day really captures the spirit of of this wonderful day that officially marks the beginning of summer… Our Sail Away Tee from Blue Platypus features a fun print of sailboats and seabirds gliding towards the sun setting on the horizon.
We can’t get enough of these Palazzo Pants for summer – great prints, super comfortable for travel, appropriate for most occasions 😉 The Palazzos featured today are available in two different color combinations: Mint/Magenta with Black and Red/Aqua with Navy.
This lovely mint green dress from Judith March is fantastic for summer! Dress has fringe all the way around with criss-cross straps in back. All the movement makes it super fun for a lunch date, night out, or wedding. Wear on it’s own or pair it with a coral bandeau for funky and fresh look.
Today’s Outfit was inspired by my trip to Big Sur, CA. Not only because I was wearing these pants on the drive there , but because the colors of the palazzo pants were reminiscent of all the brilliant and beautiful scenery of Highway 1: the wildflowers growing on the hillside, the purple sand in the beaches, and the brilliant blues and greens of the ocean. We saw so many beautiful scenes as we whirled up the Pacific Highway… and I was super comfortable in my Palazzo Pants for the whole drive.
